Paul Green, noted American playwright and Pulitzer Prize winner, wrote "The Lost Colony" as a tale of history, intrigue and adventure. It documents the American Spirit and the American Struggle. The play opened in 1937 and is America's longest running outdoor drama. Since that time, the drama has been presented every summer (with the exception of WWII when the presence of German submarines off the coast made a blackout necessary). The play combines drama, song, dance, music and special effects to bring to life the story of one of America's greatest mysteries, the establishment of the first English colony of the New World and its untold story of its disappearance sometime after 1587.
The 117 men, women, and children of this unsolved mystery inclued Virginia Dare, the first child of English lineage born in the New World. Witness her birth and speculate about her fate as you immerse yourself in the production.
Cost: ($14/adult, $8/child 11 and under)
