Ocracoke Island

Take the "Road less Traveled" and you are in Hyde County. An enchanting part of this "Less Traveled" area is Ocracoke Island. Ocracoke, once the home of Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, has become a favorite hideout for visitors. When you visit the island, take time to reflect on everything that makes the place so special to the ones that live there or have visited there before. Check out the stories about the ship wrecks that have washed up on the beach through the past centuries. Listen to the stories about Torpedo Alley during World War II. Explore the fantastic miles of beach. Enjoy the fantastic shops and restaurants. Bring your walking shoes or rent a bike and explore this exciting part of the Outer Banks on your own.
