Alligator River Growers
It is hard to imagine 4000 acres of cleared farm land in what was once all woods during the 70's. Alligator River Growers is the home of Mattamuskeet Sweet Onions. During your tour you will have the opportunity to see 100 acres of onions growing in the fertile, black Hyde County soil. In addition you will observe the methods employed to drain such a large expanse of land. While visiting the facility, you will be able to observe the equipment that makes the growing, harvesting and marketing of the onion a reality.
-Approximate capacity, 28 people.
