In 2005, a total of one County Agent from North Carolina submitted one entry in the NACAA Horticulture Awards Program. The entry was of exceptional quality that demonstrates the yearly efforts of County Agricultural Agents
One entry was received for the NACAA Pre-AM/PIC Horticulture workshop and tour. It was sent to the regional chair and finalists will be notified.
In September 2002 the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service lost one of our Horticulture Agents, Lewis Stillman Howe III, to an apparent heart attack. It was suggested to start a scholarship in Howe's name. This $500 professional improvement scholarship will be given yearly at the NCACAA State meeting. In 2005, one entrie was received.
It has been a pleasure to serve as the Horticulture Chair this past year. I encourage all Agricultural Agents working in horticulture to apply for these awards.
