The Distinguished Service Award for employees with more than 10 years of service (DSA); The Achievement Award for employees with less than 10 years of service (AA); The Service to Agriculture Award for someone who has made significant contributions to agriculture in NC or the region; and The Young Agent Scholarship Award established by the retired county agricultural agents to motivate and encourage young agricultural Extension agents to develop their professional talent and skills, purse excellence in their work, and broaden their educational experiences for successful careers with NCCES. Recognition and Awards Committee Highlights:

Questions regarding tenure and maximum age for the Young Agent Scholarship Award were addressed just before the Annual Meeting. The committee will work with Life Members to determine whether revising the Young Agent Scholarship Award policy is needed.

Each district will continue to select awards recipients as they deem appropriate and effective through their respective Recognition & Awards Committee. Only applications submitted through District Recognition & Awards Committees will be accepted. District Chairs are responsible for sending completed information to the State Chair.

Each district will send the names of their nominees to the State Chair before applications are completed. The full list of nominees will then be forwarded onto Extension Administration for review and approval before award winners are finalized.

Winners are selected based on a written narrative, letters of support, and involvement in NCACAA and NACAA. More details are in the 2005 NCACAA Awards Guidelines.

2005 Nomination/Application forms will be available on NCACAA's web site in the Awards section in early August.
