Life Member Committee Report

2002 - 2003

Victor B. Lynn, Life Member, Co-Chair
William C. Holtzmann, Co-Chair

Life Members must be out having a really good time because they are hard to catch at home and hard to keep up with their addresses. However, with the help of many good agents and secretaries, attached is an e-mail I sent to Scott Hawbaker, NACAA Executive Director, updating a few address. It is my understanding of our policy that district and state and national treasurers are supposed to be address coordinators. Perhaps this needs to be communicated to the membership frequently so that everyone knows who to send things like retirements, deaths and change of address. Only two deaths of retired members have been reported to me since last year's meeting. They are Woody Richardson of Watauga County and Ebert Pierce of Orange County. If there are others, I need to send their names to our Southern Region Vice Chair, Hal Tatum, by June 15th.

We have a problem being sure retiring agents are invited to become Life Members of NCACAA and NACAA. What is our policy now? Is NCACAA giving Life Membership status as a retirement benefit?

There is a vacancy as Southern Region Vice Chair of the Life Members Committee to fill out the un-expired term of Norman Vestal of Texas who had a massive heart attack several weeks after the Savannah meeting. If anyone is interested in filling this position, our state should be prepared to nominate HIM/HER in Green Bay at the Southern Region meeting on Monday.

FYI: Extension districts in the western half of the state had a retired agents retreat back in May with excellent attendance. Maybe the eastern part of the state will want to follow suit.

The Life Members want to thank our active agents for all the extra effort that has been required in recent months helping food safety and homeland security issues. You are an outstanding bunch of folks, we recognize your effort and we applaud your service.
