Scholarship Committee Report

2001 - 2002


The Scholarship Program is an excellent opportunity to offset the expense of professional improvement. North Carolina agents have contributed $16,747.58 and received $20,455.80. All agents are encouraged to apply.

North Carolina had 2 entries in 2002. Awards will be decided at the national meeting.

Criteria for awarding scholarships:

  • Carefully complete the application, any deviation from the application can disqualify it.

  • Applications may be made from individuals or groups and must be sent to your state scholarship chair by June 1. The activity must start after the current years national meeting and be completed before the next national meeting.

  • To be eligible, each participant must have contributed at least $40 to the NACAA Scholarship Fund by June 30, the year prior to making application. Write contribution checks payable to NACAA and send to your state chair.

  • Maximum individual scholarship is $1,000 per year with a $2,000 career maximum.

  • A report must be submitted to the National Scholarship Chair within 30 of completion of the professional improvement activity.

Examples of previous professional improvement awards: Graduate credits, advanced degrees, tours, seminars, specialized training, and research project.

National Scholarship Auction:

Agents are encouraged to secure nice items to be auctioned at the National Scholarship Auction. The auction price of the item will be credited, as a contribution, to the agent securing the item. Contact your state chair if you secure an item and are not attending the National meeting.

Bob Edwards is in charge of the Auction in 2002 because the meeting is in the Southern Region and he is Southern Vice Chair. Therefore, he encourages participation by securing items to be auctioned.
