For 2001, there were a total of 31 agents submitting 57 entries in the NACAA/AT&T Communications Award Program. Each of the entries included communication materials of outstanding quality that County Agricultural Agents used during the year 2000 to promote and deliver Extension programs. At the national level, financial support for the Communications Awards Program is provided by AT&T. Their sponsorship of this program is greatly appreciated and makes possible the awards for winners and finalists at the national level. Promotion of the "Call Before You Dig" service through local Extension programs will help to insure the continued sponsorship of these awards by AT&T. National awards are presented in each of the thirteen categories as follows: National Category Winner - $500 and a Plaque At the state level, NCACAA provides the financial support for the Communications Awards Program. State winners in each of the thirteen categories receive a plaque and $100 while the second place entry in each category is awarded $50. The first place entry in each category goes on to compete in the NACAA Southern Region. The Communications Award Program provides County Agricultural Agents an excellent opportunity to be recognized for the outstanding materials that they develop to advertise and implement Extension programs. Agricultural Agents are encouraged to submit entries for this awards program every year. Further information and entry forms are always included in "The County Agent" magazine which is published by NACAA each year in December. Those submitting entries in the future should read and follow all entry guidelines closely so that entries will be formatted properly. Entries that are not properly formatted are automatically disqualified. The primary problem with formatting of state entries in 2000 was improper abstract format. In the future, entrants should closely follow the example in "The County Agent" magazine. 2001 Communications Award Program
