Award Guidelines

AA, DSA, YASA, & Service To Agriculture award applications must be made through District Recognition And Awards Committees. Completed applications/nominations are due to the respective DISTRICT RECOGNITION & AWARDS COMMITTEE by DECEMBER 1, 2009. All nominees should complete the appropriate form on NCACAA's web page. In addition, nominees for Achievement Award (AA) or Distinguished Service Award (DSA) should complete the appropriate NACAA (national association)FORM. Extension Administration and NCACAA Board of Directors must approve all nominees before a final decision can be made. Each District is encouraged to select a nominee AND an alternate candidates for each award.

AA (Achievement Award) presented by NCACAA & NACAA

  1. Nominee must have less than 10 years of service with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service as of March 15 of the year of the award.
  2. Nominee must be a current member of the state association (NCACAA).
  3. Nominee's national (NACAA) dues must be paid by the deadline for the coming year.
  4. d. One nominee from each district will be submitted to State Chair of the Recognition & Awards Committee. These nominees will then be submitted to Extension Administration for approval.
  5. Agent can receive this award only 1 time at either the District or State level.
  6. If recipient has resigned before the Annual Meeting of NCACAA or NACAA in the year in which he/she is to receive the award, he/she will be ineligible to receive the award.
  7. State Achievement Award Agents will be selected from the current year nominees submitted by each district. State AA winners will represent North Carolina at the National Meeting.
  8. Each Nominee is requested to submit a digital picture of good quality. Professional dress, head shot, with a neutral background.
  9. Upon being named the winner of the Young Agent Scholarship Award, the agent will attend the professional development opportunity indicated in his/her application, and subsequently submit original documentation of expenses to the Agriculture Foundation, and copies to the state chair of the Recognition & Awards Committee.

DSA (Distinguished Service Award) presented by NCACAA & NACAA

  1. Nominee must have at least 10 years of service with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service as of March 15 of the year of the award.
  2. Nominee must be a current member of the state association (NCACAA).
  3. Nominee's national (NACAA) dues must be paid by the deadline for the coming year.
  4. One nominee from each district will be submitted to State Chair of the Recognition & Awards Committee. These nominees are then submitted to Extension Administration for approval.
  5. If recipient has resigned before the Annual Meeting of NCACAA or NACAA in the year in which he/she is to receive the award, he/she will be ineligible to receive the award.
  6. DSA's will be selected from the current year nominees submitted by each district and winners will represent North Carolina at the National Meeting.
  7. Nominee is requested to submit a digital picture of good quality. Professional dress, head shot, with a neutral background.

YASA (Young Agents Scholarship Award) presented by NCACAA

  1. Must be a member of the NC Cooperative Extension Service with 5 years of service or less by October 1st of the year nominated.
  2. Must not be over 30 years of age at the time award is presented.
  3. Nominee must be a current member of our state association (NCACAA). Nominee shall be active in the affairs of the professional Extension associations.
  4. Agent can receive this award only one time, and will be ineligible for this award if selected for the District Achievement Award in the same year.
  5. Recipient must be employed by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service at the time of the presentation. If a recipient has resigned before the Annual Meeting of the NCACAA in the year in which he/she is to receive the award, he/she will be ineligible to receive the award.
  6. Nominee is requested to submit a digital picture of good quality. Professional dress, head shot, with a neutral background.
  7. Districts can resubmit applicants who are not previous winners.

Service To Agriculture Award presented by NCACAA -

A person outside of governmental agencies that has made a significant contribution and strongly supports agricultural programs conducted by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service will be recognized. This person is to receive a plaque and reimbursement for expenses directly related to attending the NCACAA annual meeting up to $300.

  1. All districts are requested to make nominations to the State Recognition and Awards Committee.
  2. The official NCACAA nomination form must be used.
  3. The district will submit the nomination to the State Chair of the Recognition And Awards Committee.
  4. Nominee is requested to submit a picture with application. Picture should be 4"X5", color OR black and white, PROFESSIONAL QUALITY, with a small mailing label at bottom back of picture listing nominee's name and award. A digital picture of good quality is preferred. Professional dress, head shot, with a neutral background.
  5. Districts can resubmit applicants who are not previous winners.
