NCACAA State Board Meeting

November 18, 1998

McKimmon Center, Raleigh, NC

The meeting was called to order by President Billy Dunham.

Those present included: Billy Dunham, Johnny Hensley, Richard Rhodes, Mike Regans, Nancy Keith, Joey Knight, Bill Skelton, Lenny Rogers, James Cochran, Dalton Dockery, Ross Young, Jim Carey, Kent Wooten, Lisa Wimpheimer, John Dorner, Alan Harper, Marjorie Rayburn.

Johnny Hensley presented the following recommendations of the Recognition and Awards Committee for Distinguished Service Awards (DSA), Achievement Awards (AA), Young Agent Scholarship, and Service to Agriculture Award for 1999:

    DSA

    • Lewis W. Smith, Perquimans Co.
    • Mark Tucker, Forsyth Co.
    • Fred May, Pamlico Co.
    • John V. Hall, Lee Co.
    • Wayne C. Batten, Wake Co.
    • Alternate - Gary Hyatt, Mitchell Co.

    AA

    • Curtis Ross Young, Madison Co.
    • Taylor Williams, Lee Co.
    • Bryant M. Spivey, Duplin Co.

    Young Agent Scholarship

    • Dalton B. Dockery, Columbus Co.
    • Alternate - Terri A. King, Madison Co.

    Service to Agriculture

    • M. scott Whitford, Pamlico Co.

Bill Skelton moved we accept these award recommendations. Motion was seconded and passed.

Johnny Hensley indicated that there was a new form for DSA and AA recipients to sign indicating that they planned to attend the national meeting. He also reminded the board that applications for the Purcell Pinnacle Award need to be in by January 15, 1999, so candidates can be selected and in to the regional chair by March 1st. The Purcell Pinnacle Award requires a 500 word narrative for application.

Ross Young asked about getting caps with the new logo made. This was referred to membership services committee to work on, since this committee took care of ordering and selling caps last time.

Since the general membership voted to change NCACAA Districts to be consistent with the new Extension Administrative Districts, the Association Policy Committee (Bill Skelton, chair) will need to develop a proposal to implement that change and the various areas that will be affected by it.

Meeting was adjourned.
